Useful services in the Rome Fiumicino terminals
The Leonardo Da Vinci airport in Rome has 4 terminals, being all close together, it will be easy to walk from one to the other. It is therefore not necessary to take a bus to move from one terminal to another.
Below you will find an overview of useful services at Rome Fiumicino Airport.
Wifi in Rome Fiumicino airport
At Rome Fiumicino airport, the Wi-Fi service for internet connection is completely free and unlimited. To connect to the “Airport Free Wi-Fi” network you have two possibilities:
– use the official Aeroporti di Roma App, called “Rome Airports”, which will give you access to the 4Mps network,
– or use the standard web connection which however has a maximum speed of only 2Mps.
Important note, access to any online service is allowed, including video streaming.
VIP Lounges in Rome airport
There are several lounges at Rome Fiumicino Leonardo da Vinci airport, access to which can be purchased on site or booked online. The Alitalia lounges are different and distributed in several points of the airport, while the other lounges are all located in Terminal 3, from where most international flights depart.
The main lounges at Fiumicino airport are:
– Avia Lounge: Terminal 3, Gate D
– The Mosaics: Terminal 3 (Schengen area, near Gate D5)
– Le Anfore: Terminal 3, in front of Gates G11 and G12. Reserved for Business Class only and only for non-Schengen flights.
– Casa Alitalia: The lounges of the Italian flag carrier are present in several points.
Rome airport Fast Track
The Fast Track service is the quickest way to skip the security line. It can be very convenient if you want to avoid the endless queues that can often be created at security checks, or it can be decisive for not missing a flight if you arrive late at the controls. By purchasing a voucher costing 5 euros (free for children and teenagers from 0 to 12 years old), you can access the quick checks, where there is usually no queue or it is extremely small. Tickets can be purchased at the information desks at T1 and T3 in the departures area.
E-Gates
Rome Fiumicino airport was the first airport in Italy to have installed E-Gates, or digital gates for passport control in the case of international flights. The E-Gates allow you to halve the time for document verification. In fact, once the traveler arrives at the automatic gate, he simply has to place his passport on a scanner, after which the image of his face will be scanned and compared with the one stored in the passport chip. In most cases the gate will open after a few seconds, but if for some reason problems arise, it will be sufficient to go to the traditional gates.
In order to use the E-Gates you must have an electronic passport (equipped with a microchip), and be at least 14 years old, so they cannot be used if you are traveling with children.
Lost items
If you have lost an object of value or otherwise an item that is important to you in one of the Rome Fiumicino airport terminals, it is important to try to remember where you may have lost it. There are two offices for lost and found items, covering the areas before and after the security checks respectively.
If the loss presumably occurred before the security checks or during the checks themselves, you must refer to the office located at the arrivals of Terminal 3 (next to the Luggage Storage), by calling +39 06 65955253. The office opens every day at 7:00 AM, but on weekdays it closes at 5:00 PM, and on weekends at 3:00 PM.
If, on the other hand, you have lost an object after the security checks, you must call +39 0665953313. The office is open daily from 7:00 to 11:30 PM, it is located at the arrivals of Terminal 3 in the delivery area baggage near the baggage carousel 11.
Luggage storage
The Leonardo da Vinci airport luggage storage is located in Terminal 3, and is open every day from 6:30 to 11:30 PM. The number to call in case of need is +39 0665953541. The deposit fee is 6 euros per bag, for every 24 hours or part thereof; payment can be made when the baggage is collected.
